Summer Days

Did you know that we’re closest

to the sun in January?

3 millions miles closer than in June.

I don’t mean to turn this into a science lesson but 

listen to me

while I slice the stem off this mango

can you scoop out some ice cream?

Wait don’t eat it like that!! (Ok I’ll bite the mango then!)

Now we’ve got to wash our sticky hands

under the same tap, share the lather (not on my nose!!). 

Fine we’ll sink into the couch under the fan and dry our palms and fall asleep.

Didn’t they say the days would be longer in the summer?
