All day I’ve tried to stay away from the AI171 news but there’s one video that’s burned into my psyche and won’t go away. It’s just an instagram story posted by a couple prior to boarding that flight in which they’re poking fun at each other and being goofy in the mundane ways we all are around people we love.
That’s what’s scary. The mundaneness of it at all. The unremarkableness of the moments we share with each other which we don’t count as beautiful or memorable. Fighting over chai at an airport lounge one moment and in the next, interlocking hands tightly over an armrest in 22B as your plane descends into an inferno.
I have nothing of meaning to say now except to share Miko Harvey’s For M which is always relevant but more so for days like today.
